1940.3.31: left Bergen in convoy HN23A with approx. 40 ships bound for Methil. Eight Finnish steamers participated: KEMI, JUSSI H., GOTTFRID, ESBJÖRN, EMILY, ERGO, TAURI. 1940.4.2: German submarine  U-38 torpedoed in psn 58.52N 01.31 W. All the crew of 19 were killed. British trawler GOOD SEPHERD found six miles north-northeast of Fair Isle cook Arne Sundblom (from Föglö, Åland) as dead in SIGNE's liferaft. He was buried in the cemetery of Fair Isle, Shetland Islands. Also tombstone was erected.
