Aktiebolaget Oceanfart was founded by Krogius family 1927. The managing director was Birger Krogius (9.12.1901 Helsinki – 18.9.1997). During his career he was also CEO of Suomen Etelä-Amerikan Linja Oy (AL) and Suomen Höyrylaiva Oy. The first ship HERAKLES sailed in AL service. Oceanfart owned four ships named HERAKLES and three ships named HELIOS. All the ships were general cargo vessels except the last HELIOS was oil tanker. The last ship HERAKLES (4) was sold 1980.

The name of the company was changed to Oy Oceanfart Ab 1957 and to Oy Oceanshipping Ltd 1981. Shipping activities ceased 1981. Today Marcus Lindfors - grandson of Birger Krogius - owns all the shares. He is living in Mariehamn.
